Marcus Expands Business with Hytera DMR Trunking Pro

Background
Marcus Communication (Marcus), founded by Bruce Marcus, Owner and CTO of Marcus Communications in April, 1969 at 134 Manchester, Connecticut, is the largest trunking radio network operator in Connecticut State, USA. Its trunking radio communications network covers the whole state and many fields like police, firefighting, medical aid, urban engineering and taxi. From the company's foundation, Marcus Communications has been striving for technical excellence in the field of two-way radio, now known as Wireless. Over the past 33 years, Marcus has participated in countless events where technical know-how and agility were absolutely necessary. The Marcus Communications team continues to be dedicated to their customers and community while making significant breakthroughs in the technology industry.

Challenges
Currently, Marcus provides service of radio leasing and network maintenance for business users, and a full set of communication services for public safety users. With the growing demands in communication, Marcus gradually realized the inferiority of analog LTR in communication and data services. End users often complained its LTR network for unclear communication quality and existing blind area in communication. While some taxi users kept a wait-and-see attitude because it couldn’t provide large capacity of GPS service. For public safety users, they chose giving up because of the high rent brought by Marcus’ P25 equipments. All these problems lost a lot of business for Marcus.

Solutions
Impressed with the amazing quality of Hytera’s equipment, Marcus decided to replace the existing network in stages with Hytera DMR Trunking Pro.
Hytera took Hytera DMR Trunking Pro to meet the demands of customer. In the first phase, three DS-6210 trunking base stations were installed in LTR network in Box mountain, Avon and Haddam, which covered Manchester, Hartford, Avon and Haddam. After that, totally 20 DS6210 trunking base stations were located to cover the whole network of Connecticut.

Benefits
Compared with the previous LTR analog network, the newly-built Hytera DMR Trunking Pro brought Marcus experience of cost-saving and high-efficiency and they were looking forward to be a further successful partnership with Hytera for its excellent products.
-Low Network Cost
Hytera DMR Trunking Pro provides double user capacity and traffic capacity, from 900 to 1800, with the same equipments or even less (three base stations, each base station 4 RF units), which notably reduces the cost.
-Superior Audio Quality
Hytera DMR Trunking terminals adopt advanced digital voice and channel coding technology, achieving better audio quality compared with analog system, which brings Marcus’ end users excellent communication experience.
-High Spectrum Efficiency
DMR technology adopts TDMA two time-slot technology which divides the 12.5kHz bandwidth into two 6.5 kHz time slots to support 2 simultaneous communication channels, greatly enhancing spectrum efficiency and system capacity, which also improves battery saving.
-Large Coverage
Hytera DMR Trunking Pro adopts 3 diversity receiving, perfectly meeting the 95% coverage demands of Marcus system network. (Public safety users: 95dBm downlink, business users: 105dBm downlink)
