Satellite Communication

Satellite Communications

Satellite communication is a wireless communication method that uses artificial communication satellites located in space orbit as space relays to relay radio signals to achieve communication between multiple earth stations. It has the advantages of flexible networking, reliable link, wide signal coverage and breakthrough geographical limitation, and can be used anytime, anywhere and on demand. With the characteristics of transparent transmission, satellite communication can provide multimedia access such as voice, video, data, Internet, etc. It is widely used in public security, emergency, broadcasting, telecommunication, maritime, energy and other industries. In July 2017 Norsat International Inc. was acquired by Hytera.

Challenge

Communication requirements and channels have evolved drastically in the age of globalization and it has become imperative to enhance connectivity between organizations, world-wide teams, headquarters and employees on the field. Radio communications play an essential role in this, especially in public safety, fleet operations and mining applications. Most radio networks use line of sight propagation or have fixed repeater stations. Radio over satellite can extend each of these networks and provide essential connectivity between headquarters and field teams during natural disasters and mission-critical applications.
