Overcoming Communication Challenges

The coverage extension solution is to use passive distributed equipment and RF amplifiers to provide and expand the RF coverage inside high-rise buildings, tunnels, basements, airports, underground car parks and other areas. The solution is applicable for radio systems as DMR, TETRA, Conventional and Trunking system with VHF or UHF. To ensure the range of communication for radios, in order to overcome weak signal or loss of signal in some environments inside buildings, basements, and improve the quality of conversations.

Hytera uses Bi-Directional Amplifier (BDA), a RF signal booster, to improve radio communications in situations where radio signal levels are degraded due to obstacles in the radio path. This might be in where their construction can prevent the signals from a source reaching the users in these areas. They are available in a number of variants to suit the communications situation, this includes integrated and distributed configurations and band and channel select options.

Hytera BDAs are a cost effective and flexible way to extend coverage of radio and communication systems and overcome challenges presented by environments like high–rise buildings, basements, tunnels, subways and more.
Hytera BDAs are ideal for shopping centres which have complicated structural design like few partition walls and multiple levels. Generally speaking, indoor coverage includes shopping areas, management offices, security offices, meeting rooms, rest rooms, underground parking, etc.
Hytera BDAs can facilitate communications at sports stadiums which have semi-open/reinforced concrete structure like few partition walls. Indoor coverage includes entrance gates, spectator and player areas, office, security counter, VIP rooms, equipment rooms, etc.
Bi-directional amplifiers are reliable at transport hubs with
semi–open or reinforced concrete structure like few partition walls and high ceiling, etc. Indoor coverage includes offices, waiting rooms, security counter, VIP rooms, stores, equipment rooms and underground parking, etc.
Hytera BDA Highlights

Rugged design, metal housing provides good ingress protection and heat dissipation

Portable, BDAs are small, lightweight, with flexible mounting options

Comprehensive range of variants, integrated/distributed, band/channel select, direct/wireless coupling, VHF/UHF frequencies

Flexible network topologies, tree/star/chain/ring/hybrid - allowing best fit for application

BDAs are compatible with many multiple systems, such as Analogue PMR/MPT, Digital DMR Conventional/Trunked, and TETRA etc.

Case Study

  • Tunnels are a key part of many transport infrastructures. Whether they are used as roads for vehicles and pedestrians, trains, power utilities, public use or service vehicles, they keep cities moving and people connected.
