Background

KFMC has a strategic location in the heart of Riyadh city, capital of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It has a highly qualified and efficient Technical Management Team, all are engaged to achieve one goal: making KFMC a benchmark in the medical care, to which all patients from all over the region are referred to, for all treatment levels where medical and professional competencies of different disciplines are gathered to provide assistance to patients, who are estimated annually by more than 30,000 inpatients and 500,000 outpatients. The complex consists of four hospitals: The Obstetrics & Gynecology Hospital, The Specialist Hospital, The Rehabilitation Hospital, and The Pediatric Hospital.

    King Fahad Medical City was using an analogue radio system, suffering a lot for the traffic jam due to the limited system capacity and terrible voice quality with background noise. The limited coverage is not big enough to cover the KFMC buildings nor the Riyadh city which leads to the lack of instant radio communication between the ambulances and control room. KFMC plans to upgrade the radio system to a digital, reliable radio system with high capacity and clear voice quality that can cover 98% of the hospital area and provide communication between ambulance inside Riyadh city with the control room with AVL function so the control room can know the real-time location of the vehicle and dispatch.

After study about the requirement of the customer and site survey, Hytera and its local partner proposed a state-of-the-art DMR Tier III Trunking system with indoor coverage solution and was chosen by KFMC after strict technical and commercial evaluation. The base station adopts the Triple Diversity Receiving technology which can enlarge the outdoor coverage. The TDMA technology makes the voice crystal-clear and ease the traffic by doubles the channels. TS-9200 BDA enhances the coverage inside the buildings by selectively amplify the signals, ensuring the frequency purity of repeated signals and the stability of output power. The digital radio system has versatile data service like message, GPS, AVL and etc. The dispatcher can know exactly where the staff/vehicles are located & moving by using the GPS and AVL function thus accomplished visualized dispatching in the control room.

Hytera terminals have excellent RF and Audio performance and are rigid and reliable, PD785G portable radio is compliant with IP67(fully water and dust proof ) and the latest American Military Standard MIL-STD-810G, PD705 UL913 Explosion-Proof radio which is designed for Hazardous Working Environments is used in the required laboratory.
