Abha (Arabic: أبھا ýýAbhā) is the capital of Asir province in Saudi Arabia. It is situated 2,200 meters above sea level in the fertile mountains of south-western Saudi Arabia, near Asir National Park. Abha's mild climate makes it a popular tourist destination for Saudis.

RD98X Repeater
PD68XG Portable Radio
MD78XG Mobile Radio
Abha Municipality owns an analogue conventional system including 300 pieces of VHF analogue radios (handheld and mobile) working under repeater mode. Updated with the latest radio technology, the telecommunication department of Abha knows the trend is digital, yet can only gradually phase out the analogue radios as two thirds of them are relatively new. Thus a smooth migration plan is necessary to avoid the wasting of the legacy system.
As part of the modernization program, the Bureau wanted to upgrade the communication and incident recording solutions available to customs staff. It wanted to implement a body worn camera (BWC) system to provide daily recordings and real time viewing capabilities.
The BWC solution was needed to capture video evidence, so the footage could be used to review incidents. BOC also wanted to deploy BWCs at ports throughout the Philippine archipelago to enhance its monitoring activities.
After strict evaluation and test, Abha Municipality finally chose Hytera DMR Conventional Solution. At the first phase 100 terminals and 1 repeater were installed working under Analogue model, peacefully co-existing and efficiently working with the remaining terminals. The remaining 200 terminals will be gradually replaced with Hytera DMR radios in the next two years, by which time all the radios and repeaters will be switched to digital model, doubling the channel efficiency and adding more features and benefit to the system and users like crystal clear voice, longer working hours, visualized dispatching and voice recording(Smart Dispatch).
Smooth migration avoids one-time too large investment and makes full usage of the existing analogue radio system.
Compared with the old analogue handheld, the PD68X handheld radio features an aluminum body with large LCD and Arabic keypad, complying with the latest MIL-STD-810G standard and IP67 which guarantees its rigidness and reliable performance.
The MD78XG mobile radio (50W) has a very good cover range, so that it can effectively communicate with others even in Najran, which is at the border of KSA, 100+ kilometers away from the repeater.
