Hytera PoC Solution Enables Ugandan Security Company to Communicate with Personnel Across the Country
Magnum Security, a private security frm in Uganda, required a wide area radio solution that would enable it to communicate with its local branches and personnel spread around the country. Hytera supplied its PoC technology with web-based dispatch and a mix of PNC360S handheld and MNC360 mobile PoC radios. Magnum can now easily communicate with staff throughout Uganda, while the dispatch system and location tracking technology have improved the level of operational effciency and customer response.

Challenge
Magnum Security has a big network of operations spread across Uganda with branches in various cities and personnel working in many different locations. The company needed a radio solution that could provide long range communications.
It also needed a new centralized communication center implemented at its HO in the capital city of Kampala to oversee communications and manage operations with its different branches throughout the country.
The business had relied on traditional VHF two-way radios, but these had a limited range and the radio infrastructure came with a high cost, making it economically prohibitive to invest in on a nationwide scale.
Solutions
Magnum Security decided to adopt a Hytera Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) solution, as this operates over existing nationwide public cellular and local WLAN networks. There is no need to invest in expensive radio infrastructure, just devices, SlM cards and subscriptions.
PoC provides the coverage required to support long-range communications across Uganda. lt enables instant PTT group and individual calls and texts in the same way as traditional two-way radio systems.
For the Phase 1 stage, the company has acquired 40 PNc360S handheld and MNC360 mobile PoC radio terminals and a web-based dispatch system. in so doing, Magnum has become the first security company in Uganda to adopt PoC solutions to facilitate communications in daily and emergency operations.
