Hytera Digital Radios Enhance Training and Stadium Management at Korean Football Club

Gyeongnam FC is a South Korean professional football club based in Gyeongsangnam-do. Its home stadium is the Changwon Football Center, located in the port city of Changwon. The club competes in K League 2, the second tier of South Korean football. Key daily activities include squad training, youth team management, match-day operations and facility supervision. Close collaboration between coaching staff and operations personnel is critical during training sessions, demanding rapid on-site communication across the large training ground and stadium.

Challenge

Previously, the club relied on mobile phones for daily coordination. This method proved inadequate: dialling and connection delays slowed response times, and it was impossible to share information with multiple personnel simultaneously. During fast-paced training sessions, where players, coaches and operations staff are all active at once, the inability to communicate instantly affected both training quality and squad management.

Gyeongnam FC Digital Radio Project

Gyeongnam FC therefore needed a dedicated wireless system to provide stable coverage across the training ground and stadium, real-time group and individual calling between coaching and operations staff, instant dissemination of information about unexpected situations, and push-to-talk operation without complex procedures. The devices also had to be lightweight, durable and capable of withstanding repeated field use. The core objective was to establish a delay-free voice communication environment that could keep pace with the speed of training and match-day operations.

Solutions

Gyeongnam FC deployed Hytera BP368 digital portable radios to build a field-oriented instant communication environment. Given the relatively contained operational area, the system was configured entirely in Direct Mode Operation (DMO) — radios communicate with one another without the need for repeaters or control infrastructure. This meant the solution could be deployed instantly, with zero additional infrastructure investment, while still delivering the instant group and one-to-one calling required.

On the training ground, the head coach and coaching staff can now share real-time training updates, while operations personnel handle preparation and facility management tasks with immediate coordination. The BP368 is ultra-lightweight, featuring a slim body and short antenna that make it comfortable to wear for extended periods. It delivers clear digital audio quality, ensuring stable and intelligible voice communication across the full training ground and stadium. The radio also offers extended battery life and fast charging, supporting uninterrupted operation throughout long training sessions and match days.

About Gyeongnam FC

Gyeongnam FC, a South Korean professional football club, sought to replace mobile phones with a stable wireless communication solution for coordinating training sessions, squad management, facility operations and emergency response across its training grounds and stadium. Hytera supplied its BP368 digital portable radios operating in direct mode, which has improved training efficiency and day-to-day operations, establishing a real-time, on-site communication environment without the need for additional infrastructure.

Because many people are moving at the same time during football training, fast communication is essential. Since we introduced the BP368, communication between coaching staff and operations personnel has become much quicker, and our squad training efficiency has improved greatly. We can now respond to various situations that arise during training much faster, so our satisfaction with on-site operations has increased significantly.

Benefits

Immediate Communication and Faster Response

With direct push-to-talk operation, coaching staff and operations personnel can communicate instantly without dialling or waiting for call connections. Real-time information sharing during training has improved squad management efficiency, accelerated responses to unexpected situations and enabled faster action in emergencies.

Enhanced Operational Efficiency

The adoption of BP368 digital radios has significantly improved on-site communication efficiency across training and stadium operations. The head coach can relay instructions to multiple staff simultaneously, while operations teams can coordinate preparation and facility tasks without communication delays.

Lightweight, Reliable and Simple to Deploy

The ultra-lightweight BP368 is comfortable for all-day wear. Clear digital audio, long battery life and robust durability ensure reliable performance across the training ground and stadium. The direct-mode configuration required no additional infrastructure, making the solution both cost-effective and instantly operational.

Conclusion

Gyeongnam FC has established a real-time, on-site communication system that supports both squad training and stadium operations. A defining feature of this deployment is that it achieved a measurable improvement in communication efficiency using only digital portable radios, without repeaters or control systems. This project demonstrates how a simple, well-configured DMR solution can meet the fast-paced communication demands of a professional sports environment.
