Mexico - Nov 6, 2023 - Hytera Communications (SZSE: 002583), a leading global provider of professional communications technologies and solutions, donated two-way radios and offered technical support to the local disaster relief task forces in Mexico. The equipment was utilized to coordinate personnel from local authorities and NGOs in their efforts to help local communities in the aftermath of Hurricane Otis, a Category 5 hurricane that struck Guerrero state on October 25, 2023.
On October 25, at 00:25, the Category 5 Hurricane Otis landed in Acapulco in the state of Guerrero in Mexico. The 47 cities in Guerrero, including Acapulco and the state capital Chilpancingo, were listed as disaster areas due to strong winds, heavy rain, and flooding brought by Otis. The hurricane significantly affected the infrastructure of the cities where nearly one million residents live. Dedicated critical task forces were actively coordinating relief efforts. However, communication had been severely disrupted due to extensive damage to the major telecom operators in the region, posing challenges to effective rescue coordination.
Hytera provided support to local relief task forces
After the disaster, Hytera Mexico team promptly took action by bringing the much-needed two-way radios to Acapulco and donated to the local authority. In collaboration with partner companies, Hytera transported supplies and necessities from Mexico City to the hurricane-stricken communities.
Sergio Bravo, one of the Hytera engineers onsite offering support in Acapulco, proudly commented: "For members of our Hytera family in Mexico, the best way to support Acapulco is to leverage our expertise and provide an instant communication solution that can also be expanded according to future needs."
