Challenge: Limited Coverage and Inefficient Coordination

Before adopting a specialized solution, La Nortenita struggled with serious connectivity issues. Coverage across different work areas was inconsistent, leaving staff unable to communicate reliably. Critical departments—such as production, maintenance, logistics, and security—operated in silos, leading to delayed responses and, at times, operational risks.

“We couldn’t communicate between areas before. If a problem happened, we would only find out afterward. Now everything flows in real time,” shared one of the field supervisors.

Additionally, the company was still using an aging fleet of analog radios. To enhance communications without disrupting daily operations, they needed a hybrid solution that could support both analog and digital systems during the migration process.

Solution: Always-On Connectivity

To overcome these challenges, La Nortenita implemented Hytera’s IP Multi-Site Connect Solution. This setup allows one master repeater to connect with up to 29 secondary repeaters over an IP network—whether LAN or WLAN. In this first phase, nine repeaters were installed, significantly extending coverage compared to standalone repeaters.

The solution runs in conventional mode, enabling both analog and digital radios to communicate seamlessly across the same system—even over the IP link. With this new infrastructure, La Nortenita began a gradual transition to digital, deploying Hytera HP60X, HP70X, and HP78X portable radios, as well as mobile units—greatly boosting efficiency and team coordination.
